Norristown Christmas Tree Donation Event
At the end of the year, our community enjoys the holiday season with friends and family. Because this season is about sharing with others and giving to those who need it most, it is imperative to us at SERVPRO to help families in our area obtain the essential items to celebrate alongside us. Christmas trees have been the focal point of holiday decorations for generations.
We understand that not all tragedies a family might face involve a disaster in their home. Other situations, often beyond anyone's control, can cause financial crises to develop. Temporary hardship should not impact a child's holiday fun or their memories of what should always stay a happy and joyous time.
To help everyone celebrate this year, we partnered with the police department, several area churches, and local schools in assisting families in need. On a cold day, complete with the first snow of the winter, we gave away a hundred trees. The trees arrived in one of our Green Fleet trailers, and we had almost as much fun setting everything up as we did when giving them away.
We enjoyed the day immensely, helping parents and children pick out their tree and then loading it onto their vehicle, drinking some hot cocoa and munching on cookies and other treats. Along with the trees, we gave out $100 gift certificates so each family would have a bright Christmas morning. We enjoy making a difference in the lives of those around us, and we do not keep this habit as a 'holidays-only' endeavor.
We want your family to stay safe year-round, but during the holidays, it is important to remember, when using a real tree, it is critical to ensure that its water bowl always contains water. Dry trees pose higher risks of starting a fire. A sign of this situation is an excessive number of needles falling onto the tree skirt. Also, always turn off electrical decorations before going to bed or leaving your home unattended.
